About the Major
SUNY Oneonta’s Business Administration major provides a solid foundation for successful careers in business enterprises and other organizations. Building upon a strong liberal arts, sciences and economics base, the major emphasizes the management of organizations, supported by knowledge of the general business disciplines of accounting, marketing, law, finance and information systems.
Business Administration majors develop additional depth in the business disciplines through required courses, including organizational behavior, operations management, corporate social responsibility, information systems, and a capstone course in strategic management.
You'll have the option to advance your knowledge of the business domain beyond the core curriculum by pursuing concentrations in marketing, finance, green supply chain management and non-CPA accounting.
We do not use teaching assistants as instructors in our courses; all classes are taught by full-time faculty whose focus is on their functional area of training.
Outside the Classroom
You'll also have opportunities to develop and demonstrate business-related skills through experiential earning activities outside the classroom, including competitions, research projects, internships, professionally relevant extracurricular activities and study abroad programs.
Requirements for Declaring the Major
The Business Administration major is open to all new and current students who have a 2.0 grade-point average and grades of "C" or better in courses required for the major, and who follow the prescribed course sequences.
