Adjusting to the academic challenges of college can be a big transition, but you don’t have to go at it alone. SUNY Oneonta offers a variety of academic support services to help you stay on track.
Advisement
Our Academic Advisement Center in the Netzer Administration Building offers help with course selection, choosing a major and completing graduation requirements. You can keep track of progress toward graduation requirements with DegreeWorks, a new user-friendly online tool accessible through myOneonta.
Tutoring
Tutoring services and study resources are available through our Student Learning Center in Milne Library. The Student Learning Center offers peer tutoring, professional tutoring for study skills, reading and basic math; and courses in reading, study skills, math and tutor training.
Accessibility Resources
The Accessibility Resources office in Milne Library offers support to students with disabilities and accessibility issues. Services include notetaking, adaptive technology, testing assistance, and individualized accommodations as needed.
Access and Opportunity Programs
The Office of Access and Opportunity Programs collaborates with faculty and staff to support students who are admitted to SUNY Oneonta through the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).
EOP/ACE students participate in our Summer Academy, a mandatory, tuition free, four-week program designed to help new students prepare academically for the rigors of higher education coursework. Incoming students are introduced to administrators, faculty, staff and campus facilities and have the privilege of registering for fall classes before other general admission freshmen.
Chi Alpha Epsilon (XAE) honor society members offer peer tutoring services, including assistance with class content and lecture notes review, test preparation, textbook interpretation, research papers and other general course comprehension.
Career Planning
Our Career Development Center offers information on internships, job opportunities and career planning. Services include career counseling, resume and cover letter critiques, and networking events, including a Graduate and Professional School Fair and Job, Internship and Volunteer Expo held on campus, and the New York City Internship Fair.
