Why SUNY Oneonta
I knew I wanted to work in fashion after watching ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and seeing one of the characters, Barney Stinson, dressing in suits. I started to wear suits to high school and started working at a Men’s Wearhouse. I knew I wanted to work in fashion, so I started looking at fashion departments at different SUNY schools and found SUNY Oneonta.
As soon as I stepped out of the car on my first campus visit, I felt so comfortable. I felt like this was a very welcoming campus, and it felt like home to me. There are also incredible views, just so beautiful. I was immediately very excited to spend my next four years here.

Best Experiences
Working with the professors in the Fashion Department has been amazing. The staff is engaging and cooperative. They care about all the students in the major and work through any issues with class. They also have a lot of different backgrounds and experience working with both the design and merchandising aspects of fashion. That experience really helps.
Plans, Goals, Dreams
When I came here, I thought I wanted to be a designer for men’s suits, but I discovered a real passion for the outdoors. I got a job over the summer at a Boy Scout camp in New Mexico and found that I loved working with outdoor gear. Now, I want to open my own store selling outdoor gear in the Midwest. I want to be a retail manager and carry all the top brands.
