The Digital Art Program at SUNY Oneonta is ranked number 7 in the University.com's "Best Digital Arts Colleges in New York" list.

The Art Department has articulation agreements with two major European art institutions:
The Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, Holland.
The American College of Athens, DEREE, in Athens, Greece.

US News and World Report indicates that Visual and Performing Arts are among the most popular programs at SUNY Oneonta:

"The student-faculty ratio at SUNY Oneonta is 18:1, and the school has 38.8 percent of its classes with fewer than 20 students. The most popular majors at SUNY Oneonta include: Education; Visual and Performing Arts; Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs; Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; and Family and Consumer Sciences/Human Sciences. The average freshman retention rate, an indicator of student satisfaction, is 83.8 percent."
