Many Psychology majors get hands-on supervised learning experiences in a professional setting through internships at local community-based health and social services agencies. These internships not only provide an opportunity to gain genuine work experience but also can help you evaluate your career options.
SUNY Oneonta’s Department of Psychology has developed links with many health and social service organizations in Otsego County, and these organizations host interns every semester.
Student Clubs
Two student organizations, the Psychology Club and the Psi Chi national honor society for psychology, arrange visits to educational and professional institutions, conduct workshops and panels, bring in speakers and organize trips to regional or national conferences, where students pursuing independent study research projects have presented posters and papers.
